I love taking pictures and would love to document my trips but what I'm curently working with just isn't cutting it. I have an old manual SLR camera that I love and it takes decent shots, but setting it up on the wall is tricky with one hand, hence the idea of an autofocus digital mainly for conveniance, my current digital is too slow and the lense too crummy for quality shots, when i bought it I was just looking for a snap shots camera. I'm looking into buying a new digital camera for taking shots of climbing trips and routes, I've been looking at the Powershot A520 by canon. It is a 4 Megapixel with a 4x optical zoom, the lense seems decent and it claims to process the pics quickly. Does anyone have any experiance with this camera? Any opinions on the matter would be appriciated.

Hi, I can say that I've only played with it, for starters. Saying that, I will add that in the dim room that I was shooting with it in, it focused pretty quick (i was at the wide end of the zoom, though) and exposed well. I highly recommend that you take a look at dpreview.com here's a link to the review on that camera. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canona520/ it's kind of cool that you can also shoot in manual modes. Best Brent
