We're finished with our new 2006 catalog with our new models (climbing shoes, approach shoes, kickback shoes).
Most climbing and approach shoes and some kickback shoes available in February 06.

http://www.evolvesports.com/evolv2006catalog.pdf

new climbing shoe models:
EVO: stiffer midsoled performance velcro shoe
DEMORTO: symmetrical toe profile performance shoe
RAVE: very soft synthetic slipper
KINETA: women's slipper

approach shoes:
STRYKER: lace-up and velcro approach shoe

kickback shoes:
PSYCHE: stylish, sticky rubber kickback shoe (forest green, black, brown)

Our very special thanks to kelly hammer(climbs4fun) for the amazing graphic design work on the entire catalog, and mike shore(mshore), keith ladzinski, wes allen(wes_allen), merrick ales(merock), louie anderson(socalbolter) for the awesome photography!

Nice catalog; I like the redesigned Rage (Rave?) and the new symmetrical shoe (got a little morton's toe going on). Glad to see business is going well; you guys definitely deserve your success. Any chance we'll get another testing run on some of these new shoes similar to the testing earlier this year? When I did my testing, I responded with a small complaint about the lining in some of the shoes, especially the Defy and the Rage. I find that as my feet get sweaty my toes tend to get slippery inside the shoes and sometimes roll over on each other, leaving me pretty much stuck in my tracks until I anchor in, take off my shoe, and chalk my feet a little bit (it's pretty gross). My shoes are sized about as small as I can size them, so I don't think a smaller size would fix the problem. Has anything been done to address this issue in the newer models? I love my defys but I can't really wear them on any multi-pitch routes because they end up being too uncomfortably slippery. Anyway, the new run looks great, can't wait to get my hands on one of the newer models.

nice catalog. good design. just one hint. try spliting the pages in pdf. its kinda annoying when you have to move them side to side to read them.

and any chances of your testing rounds extending to europe??

Johns lurking with they editiors eye! Nice call on that date, I totally missed that one. In my design days I have made that mistake several times. Can't rate or the trophy would be yours....

Great catalog....love the layout and the photos. New designs look tasty, I really like the direction your taking things here. Last year, the pictures of the shoes, somehow just did not do justice to the actual product once I had them in my hands. I think this year you guys have much better photo's of the product. Great work...

The DMC does look nice, although I'm not sure about the big rubber cap at the front.

The Recon looks like a good alternative to the DMC for men, are they leather?

Thanks for all the feedback!
We haven't responded individualy to all our testers, but we truly appreciated their feedback. Our new models and redesigned models are a result of all the continuous testing by "everyday" product tester climbers (some from this site), not just our hard-core sponsored climbers, so in the intro of our catalog we specifically thanked them. We were lacking a stiffer velcro performance shoe, so we made the EVO, many testers and customers wanted a symmetrical toe profile performance shoe since there were hardly any on the market, so we created the Demorto, our old Rage was too stiff and clunky, so we redesigned it to be softer and sensitive to make the Rave, changed the Predator lining from cotton to microfiber to make it lighter and more comfortable. Oh, and we're making a purple women's defy (maybe "Defina" any ideas?) that's more comfortable than the athena.

Now i know who to ask for catalog proofreading. :) we made this pdf proof a few days before the final print. fortunately, caught the 2005 ->2006 error and a few others just in time.

overlord, good suggestion on the pdf single page. We'll make it single page views for easier viewing. Shoe testers in Europe would be a good idea. Now, we get a lot of feedback from our european distributors (fr, uk, it, cz, pl, de, nobody in Slovenia yet) who have their own testers.

naw, i remember the feedback you gave on the shoe report. there's not much we can do about the defy lining. the plush lining is what makes the shoes super comfortable and perfect for certain types of climbing but it's got some drawbacks as all models do. The old rage lining was canvas which was super durable, but not that great feeling. so we revamped the model completely. you may like the microfiber and cotton lined shoes better for what you want to use them for. feel free to pm me.

meghan will be in the next she sends ad too. same photo.

The approach and kickback shoes will be leather. We hope to offer non-leather choices someday. It's hard to find good durable non-leather material. if you have any suggestions/examples of material, let us know. The Psyches (a few colors) are definitely a go. lots of interest. recons are still in progress. (maybe they're not that hip?) women's dmc are still in design, so feedback is welcome.

Yes, kelly did an amazing job and rc.com definitely has a lot of very talented photographers.

thanks

Edit:

Just looked at in it in the gym last night, and there was a lot of"hey I know that guy/girl!" I don't know why I didn't realize that.

updated single page catalog: http://www.evolvesports.com/evolv2006catalog.pdf
thanks kel! :)

Some other new models not in catalog:

PSYCHE kickback shoes (meant for light approaches and hanging out): http://evolvesports.com/psyche.htm
Which 2 colors out of the three would be popular?

ELEKTRA womens' velcro shoe based on our popular defy shoe: http://evolvesports.com/elektra.htm

edge, high top shoes or even an ankle protector would be a good idea. if we ever do it, we'll be sure to ask you and other folks for design ideas.

How do you post images directly in the thread?

To be honest, all three Psyche colours don't seem to be popular "new" colours. As in to me they don't give a sense that they're a 2006 product, especially when looking at them as street shoes.

The brown one maybe ok 'cos it's a pretty safe colour for sneakers, although like mentioned before, doesn't look like a 2006 product.

The green could be interesting, harder to match clothes, but could work.

All black...usually a safe bet, but in this case it looks quite boring.

So if they're not too expensive, I can see them selling ok.

Outta the Psyche's I'd choose the green.... the black I like least and wouldn't even consider them at all. I reckon a navy blue or a two shade grey would work well.

Overall though, your shoes (performance especially) look great....
