I'm coming from San Jose so I'll get there around 9am. Haven't been there before and of course the climbs aren't in the Tahoe guide so a local partner would be ideal. I TR to 5.9 (some 5.10a) but would prefer to do some trad and crack climbing which I'm still pretty new to (I have a rack). PM me if your interested in partnering. Post here if you have info, though.

I rarely climb there because 30 more minutes and your at phantom spires, the leap, or sugarloaf.....but if your looking to TR, mock-lead, etc. its a suitable place.

Some basic info: the side north of the river is where you'll want to set up TRs. Setting up TR's is easy on almost all routes and there are some notable ones....a 5.7 on the far right thats great for nut placements (if you want to practice, etc.), a killer 5.8 lieback, and then there's a 5.9 called dinkum around the corner. Definately a day's worth of TR'ing to be had. The old bay area guide has a small section in the back on Cosumnes. Have fun!

Thanx. I found the section on Cosumnes in the Climbing the San Francisco Bay Area guide. Sounds like a good area to do some short crack climbs. Of course, it's very true there are other spots a little up the road. If someone gets back to me that really really wants to do Sugarloaf instead I might be up to switching :D

feline

you basically walk down the trail, which comes out atop the rocks at the gorge area. The very first little dome area you come across you will notice top roping anchors all over the place. One for each route it turns out.

Dinkum is right there, I think there is a pic of the climb on the routes db here?
