Hey, anyone remember an article (I think it may have been in a Patagonia catalog a decade or more ago) about the value of first ascents and NOT reporting them? I think it was called something like "Here be Dragons" and, again, it may have been by YC and may have been in a Chouinard or Patagonia catalog. Thanks

i don't remember it. But here's a cool letter by some old mountaineer named Joss Lynam. Talks about first ascents now versus then. Is that it?

tre_bee Thanks much, but no, that's not it. I saw that article online when I did a Google search. I must be getting old. I wish I could just remember the original source. Heck, it could even have been an old Climbing, or Rock and Ice, or Ascent... Thanks again... I'll keep searching and maybe someone else will come across something. Brian
