Is it in yet? Has anything been forming along the I-70 corridor, specifically Officer's Gulch and Vail? Thanks.

Not sure. But remember that everything in Officer's is in major avy slide paths. Several people have died there.

It hasn't snowed here much yet so I forgot to take that into account. Thanks.

Dumping in the mountains...4 feet at Steamboat in 3 days. For real excitement, you could try window washing   http://www.thedenverchannel.com/video/5436028/index.html

We drove by Officer's Gulch on Saturday and could see some ice coming in, but as stated earlier, it's probably also very avalanche-y right now. :( The lower parts of Silver Plume also look like they're in, but I couldn't quite make out the upper bit.

oh yeah, Avy danger is way high right now. and remember, it's not just you taking the risk if you go out w/o avy training and proper equipment. you'd be putting others at risk too.... just my 2 cents.

Vail. . .The Designator is touching down but the Fang is not quite. In another week or so, it should be nice. In case anyone is wondering. . .the trail to Pumphouse has been broken. You can thank mbg and his buddy Tim for saving you the wallow in the deep snow.

From a snow standpoint, the I-70 corridor near Vail pass has the most early season snow I've seen in decades. Good for skiing, but bad for slides. Copper Mountain is struggling with snow stability on many slopes above timberline -- they were setting off numerous hand charges on both Saturday and Sunday. According to ski patrol, one of Copper's bigger bowls slid on Saturday, ripping the slope to the ground and leaving a 6-foot fracture line near the top of the bowl. Caveat emptor.
