Today...I did my first lead outdoors. It was a meager 5.6 but it is a huge step as this kind of climb used to intimidate me on top rope! I did a 5.8 on lead a few days before New Years but it doesn't really count as there was a top rope that my guide was supposed to be belaying as well as the lead belayer. The top rope was never taken up. I got to the top, looked down and there she was with a huge smile on her face and a pile of rope between her and me. She let my lead belayer do all the belaying. Essentially, I dragged 2 ropes up unnecessarily. Only the lead rope was being belayed. Today's lead...no top rope, not even a slack one! Part two....redo the first one completely on lead, no top rope. Felt good.

Congratulations Mrs. Stone, I wish I could have been there. Hopefully I will be in the Spring. By the way, what is part 2 of your resolution? Chris

HEY!!!! Thanks! I am doing the Rock Warriors Way clinic tomorrow at the Columbia gym. Part 2??? Lead the 5.8 that I thought I did on mock lead but was really a real lead. (See my first post). I also finished a 5.10b the day I lead the 5.8. Cool route. Would love to have you (and the fam) out to climb with us soon! BTW...what are YOU doing in the ladies room?

I was peaking through the keyhole expecting to see some panty-clad pillow fights, but to my dismay there was none. I luckily found you instead. I replied to another one of your old posts that I found in the "Girlfriends" thread. Go read it, I think you may find it interesting. Where were you climbing on lead? And you mentioned a guide? Who else were you climbing with?

Hey! My mock lead was at Central Endless at Fern Buttress..first real lead was at Beer Wall. Don't ask me names of climbs....can't remember. Beer wall has nice easy sport leads for beginners. I had done that climb before. I was climbing with Elaina Arnez-Smith. She owns New River Mountian Guides. She is super cool. She did some time with Arno Ilger so she is all about Rock Warrior Way techniquest. Frankly, that is the main reason why I have started enjoying climbing was because I started practicing some of Arno's philosophies. Took the clinic with him today and it was amazing! Check out the girlfriends thread......Did you know that was me when you responded?
