A few friends and I are looking for guided ice climbing somewhere in the midwest. Is the closest guide North Of Superior Climbing or is there some place else that is closer to Chicago?

Thanks!

no matter where the guide is, you'll certainly not find any ice any closer to chicago!

Here are 2 links to artcile that appeared in the New York Times last sunday regarding ice climbing areas north of Sault Ste. Marie Michigan.
Maybe these will assist you.

The Michigan Ice Fest Feb 2-6th in Munising Michigan (8 hrs north of Chicago) will have instruction by Mark Wilford, Steve House Roger Strong Sue Nott and Zoe Hart. If you have experience there are local climbers doing some tours of the Lakeshore during the fest. You can download a program at downwindsports.com
