Hey veteran climbers - Anyone know the history of Chouinard reverse locking biners? when did they start making them and stop making them? I bootied one that is a large offset D shape and rated at 2800 Kg, but there is one on ebay now that is more of a pear shape and rated to 1800 Kg. I do not use it for climbing, I'm just wondering what I actually have.

I have one too, got it when I bought my rack off some dude. The cams were from 1995ish, but the biner looks way older then everything else.

I have a couple circa 1988. I really like them, but they tend toward unlocking if they get flipped around much. I like how wide they allow the gate to open as copared to the typical Climb High D's that were available at the time. I don't remember what the catalog said about them. nice find. Anything with Chouinard on it is going to be older than 1990.
