Hey guys! I'm looking for a toyota truck to take on a road trip... The body style I really want, they quit making in like '93. This is what I am looking for: 1989-1992 Toyota DLX Reg. Cab Long Bed 4X4. If anybody has one they are looking to sell, let me know. A camper top would be a plus.

Compare chevy vs. yota in consumer reports, nada or kelly blue book. You'll see why he wants to burn rice. :D

A woman driving a pickup? Everyone knows a woman driver should be limited to driving benign station wagons and cute little sedans with automatic transmissions.

As long as you prepare me the meal in proper patriarchal-serving fashion, I have no problem at all. By the way, fetch me another beer! (that means I'm just kidding!)

I have a bunch of reasons for suggesting this, if you want to know, pm me or ask... *include the previous body style (86-88 and 85s) *include 4 runners *include xtra cab and extended cab pickups

I want the longbed pickup. I have found several of the right year, xtra cab, short bed, but I want the longer bed beacuse I am going to be living in it. 4 runners arent included because of how much less space there is in the back of a 4runner to the back of a pickup.

xtra cab/extended cab, 4 runner and long bed were all built on the same frame. your want to put a top on it anyways so inclosed area is about the same except with the 4 runner when your done road tripping you can put the seats back in and cart around 3 friends, the truck with bench can fit 3 ppl but its tight, especially in a standard. the more room you have to lock stuff up or keep handy, i think the better even if its just 6 inches behind the seat to toss your daypack or some road food. unless you are a really tall, you can sleep in the back of a extended cab pickup, its still got a ~6' bed. I have a 91 ranger extended cab with a cap and a plywood bed in the back. not to nock the 22re (the 3.0 is a joke) but I get better gas milage with my 4.0L especially when on the highway. I had an 86 xtra cab and my brother has a 92 extended cab pickup. sorry if this comes across as offensive, just trying to lay some stuff out there for you to think about. and not to steer you away from toyota, i'm looking for an 85 4runner. when you do find one that you like, be sure to check both sides of the the frame in front of the leaf spring hangers for rust holes.

You're definitely not coming across as offensive I've just started looking for trucks recently and the road trip isnt for a while, so any education i get in the subject in the mean time is likely to be helpful. Concerning the xtra cab and the long bed being built on the same frame... Just to clarify, I was looking for the 96" bed that they only offered for a few years, this is the same one you are talking about right? Do you think its a pretty worthwhile tradeoff to have more room in the cab vs more room in the bed of the truck? 6' is PLENTY long enough for me to sleep in already, I just figured if I'm going to do the plywood platform thing for the bed and put storage under it that more room in the bed would be better. Mostly what I've been hearing from friends is that 6' is plenty of room. I guess that it'd be better to search for an extended cab truck that still has the 6' bed on it. Some newer trucks though, have like 5 and a half foot beds on them. That is pushing it for short in my opinion.

for a small truck I'd definatly rather have the extended cab. you can put a 3rd person back there for short rides or store gear that youll be using consistanly and want right at hand. If you get an 8ft bed and put a plywood layer down, find some easy way to access the back of the bed, cause it can be a PITA to get something you need from up there in my 6ft bed. I have stored gear for 3 ppl for a long weekend under the plywood of my bed without too much of a packing problem. though remember to keep the jack/tire iron/roadside repair stuff somewhere where you dont have to unpack everything if you need it. Murphy has bit me here... the extended cabs and the long beds should have the same overall length and wheel base built on the same frame, the beds shorter cause the cabs longer at least thats how the 86-88 style went. I really enjoy my truck especially when Ive wanted to haul wood (lumber and fire) or haybails or anything else truckish but lately Ive wished for the seating afforded by an SUV. Taking two trucks cause 4 guys cant fit into one isnt as much fun as everyone being able to pile into one vehical
