Me and some friends are heading out to the St. George area from march 19-25 and will be camping out the whole time. Anybody know of good (free) campsites or just random places that are good to pitch a couple tents? In close proximity to some crags would be good, and we'd kinda like to stay away away from big public campgrounds. None of us have ever even been to Utah before so we have no idea how it'll be.. any help is appreciated!

I would just camp somewhere around chuckawalla or blackrocks....... just drive down the road that they are on, bluff st i think? and look for a secluded spot. I camped around that area numerous times and never had an issue. Have fun.

Snow canyon has some "improved" pay camping and some more multi-pitch stuff. Once you get out of town and on BLM land camping is free and abundant. As long as it isn't private land you should be fine. Sounds like fun. I'm hoping to get down there the first of April. ^^ike
