Why are the first 20 top ranked photos ALL by Jlangford? I rekon he is just giving everyone of his own photos 10/10 so they go straight to the top. I don't mind if he does this to one or two but twenty! Very annoying, since many of the photos are clearly not that good.

How long have you been a member of this site??? If you don't know his pictures it shouldn't have been long (6 posts only)!
Have you even read the date on the pictures or read the description??? They have an incredible historical value!!! I prefer looking at a picture of his father standing next to the car with 50's climbing equipment then looking at some guy holding on to a 200ft overhang with one finger!!!
I don't know him personally, but he doesn't seem like the kind of person who's interested in having his pictures on a stupid top 10, and doesn't need to!!! I voted 10/10 in many of his pictures!

I have been a member for at least a year. I have added CONSIDERABLE content to this site in the Australian section. I just find 20 photos of similar content annoying in the ranking. I like it better when there is a nice cross section of countries/locations. As I said, I don't mind if a few are in the top 20 but it is annoying when the first 20 are all his. Give some other photographers a go. If these images interest you you can always just view them at Jlangfords own gallery. I have no problems with his images, in fact they are some of the best on this site, giving inspirational views of the sierras and the tetons.

The rankings are based on users votes, it has nothing to do with who posted them or where he's from. (though this is almost an all american site...)
It has nothing to do with the views (there are better photos in this site), but just imagine... people were climbing the Everest for the first time!... and they thought it couldn't be done without oxygen... the mountains were not for everyone back then...

Yes, i know how the voting system works. It is easy to vote 10/10 as the first vote for your OWN photo, thus guaranteeing it goes straight to the top. Since ALL these photos seem to have one vote and are all 10/10 I am presuming that this is what has happened...

umm...is it me or does someone sound a bit jealous? unless you're submitting your own photos and are just wanting to see them on the top, i don't see why this should even bother you. unless it's a laziness thing and you're tired of having to page through pages of pics....this was a pretty pointless thread as far as i can tell...3 words:

If your concern is to be "number one", vote for yourself a thousand times. The photos ratings are based upon what viewers think are the best. If you want to be the best, take phenomenal photos!

You can only vote once for each photo, so you cannot make your own photo 10/10 all the time. The current system is good, it can just be abused by over-enthused photographers who want to put their photos up the front. Its all fixed now so I am happy. BTW I submit many photos to this site. I have not voted on those pictures to send them to the top. I have not allowed voting on my pics for some time(a couple of months). I merely activated voting on my pictures. I am sorry to have caused such an uproar. I did not manipulate the ranking of the photos through my job as photo editor. Apparently, by just activating voting again I was violating the rules. You people have gotten your wish, I am no longer a photo editor. It was fun while it lasted and I might lurk around the site from time to time but for the most part, I am gone now. I will keep in touch with those of you that I have come to know.
Orange, thank you for your love...I still mean what I said in this thread I started called Orangeoverhang's Awesome Photos.
*Edit: I was yanking your chain about leaving. I am sorry my little prank didn't go over. I didn't think I was doing anything wrong by activating voting again. I knew that if I activated voting again it would be like submitting 100 photos at once and they would flood the first couple of pages. I intended to delete them after a couple of days. Obviously, people take this voting thing too seriously and my little 'joke' didn't go over too well. Sorry!

Jody,
Many of the pics had more than 20 votes on them, some had as much as 40. When you reactivated them, you set them at 0 votes. This started the voting over again, and nullified all previous votes, votes which could not be recast. Therefore you negated all previous votes on those pics.
Whether meant or not, this manipulates the "true vote" for the pics.
If users could go in and edit their pics to reset at 0, but nullify all the previous votes in the proccess, this would be wrong. Don't you agree ???

JODY: I feel responsible for this attack on you...I by no means knew that this would happen...or cause such a fuss, for, I'm gonna try not to cuss, cause I respect you..i don't normally vote on pics but enjoy looking at them, it had been some time since I looked at your shots.
This sucks, today this site, these ppl involved showed me what type of ppl they are. I am ashamed of you ppl...your are cowardly jealous babies. Yup, this site lost something real important today Jody, and I for one am not happy about it, and to the new ppl that come here not to have you and your vast knowledge and cultural influences is tragic, yes ppl tragic is the word i'm sticking with.

good lord. some of you people (*cough* JODY *cough*) need a little thicker skin. I would be very unhappy if Jody followed through on his intent to divorce himself from the little rc.com 'community', but on the other hand, you have to recognize that people are going to be dickheads (whether by accident or design) and roll with the punches, if you're going to hang your work up for the public to see.
It would be a shame for jmlangford to go away, but it's also a shame that anyone cares this much about photo votes and rc.com 'status markers'.
