I just caught the last fifteen minutes of what I think was called 'Women on K2', and it got me wondering if there were any other films or t.v. programs featuring K2. Any info? EDIT: I mean real climbing movies, as opposed to Hollywood ones. Thanks

K2: The ultimate high. Its the movie that made me want to climb when i was 11. Its not that bad of a climbing movie actually, amazingly better for realism than almost any mainstream movie you will ever see. If anyone has ever seen it maybe they can enlighten me on where they are climbing in the opening sequence. are they in Needles? the yellowish rock makes it look a lot like pictures of there.

Sorry guys- I was totaly unclear in my original post. I have both of those movies on DVD in fact. I meant 'real' films about climbing expeditions to K2. "Women of K2" is the ony thing I found in my web search.

OMG vertical limit was the biggest piece of sh1t i have ever seen. The opening sequence is the best though, three bolts fail and then three cams walk down a crack.

By the way.. the 1991 K2 movie isn't that great either. Of course, it's way better then the VL thing, but it's still a bit far from reality... I'll post some pics when I come back.

I was hoping to make it back to the area this season, but will have to wait until next year. We'll just keep taking turns visiting the Baltoro! Sounds like it should be a crowded summer at some of the camps. Lots of teams on G2 for the anniversary.

Overall budget for a team of 3 climbers is about 120k. In terms of having fun... hope we will, but I mostly hope for good weather!

In reply to: We'll just keep taking turns visiting the Baltoro! LOL - looks like that! It will indeed be a crowded summer on the Baltoro... - As you state, many teams for G2 and G1 - Many on K2 and BP - Some on Ogre (on Biafo - but still close) - Some on Latok 1... Will look like global village to me!

I'm sure that there are a few more films on K2 out there, but the only one that I can recall was made by National Geographic Society and it features expeditions from the mountain's earlier days up through the 80's, I think. It's an interesting history piece for the time.

In reply to: BTW, Hope you have betetr weather on K2 than last season! I hope so too! I read it was pretty bad last year. That's one of the big unknown in the Karakoram. I'd say it's my biggest fear. Windows are small - if you ever get one. Anyway, we'll see how it goes. Did you at least enjoy your trek? How did you find the experience?
