I will be in Japan for the first 3 weeks in August. I may head north to Hokkaido at some point during that time. I will be in the Osaka area from August 15th-22nd. My final trip itinerary will depend partly on when and where I can find partners from Aug 1-14th. I am looking for partners to climb in the Tokyo, northern or central Honshu, and Kyoto areas during my stay (or anywhere else that is worthwhile, if I can swing it). I am reading through the area descriptions on this site, but can anybody recommend some "must not miss" climbing areas in Japan? I am a mostly a 'gunks trad climber, leading 5.8's, but can follow 10's and 11's. I suppose I will be doing sport climbs on this trip, but I don't know how well I lead. I particularly enjoy multi-pitch, moderate trad routes. I'll be bringing a 70m rope and a set of quickdraws. Thanks!
