Looking for a partner to climb the Mirroir de l'Argentine.

I am up for a variety of routs. If its a weekend I am up for spending both days climbing.

Classic route, 'Normal', sounds fun and easy (5c+). Also interested in Remix (5c+ beautiful or original it says) 'Direct (5a also beautiful or original) and 'Bal des Mutants' (6b+). I would be up for any of those. Only issue-- I dont have a 100m rope. Guide book states its necessary.

Any takers let me know...

I think you mixed the grades is classic (Voe de l'Y) and Direct, classic is easier than the moist and nasty chimney's of the Direct.

Was planning on climbing some of the routes you mentioned while I was roadtripping there, sadly the weather and lack of ropepartners made it not possible.

I think your right about the mixed up grade. In my guide book it states

Normale ou Voie de I'y 5c+ (5a)

So 'Voie de I'y' (5a) is easier than 'Normale' (5c+)

... but it says 'Directe' is still 5a.

Thanks for the clarification.

The weather has been really rainy lately. Its too bad you missed the climb. I just hiked there yesterday (awesome weather) and the slab looked amazing. It got me dying to climb it.

You do not need a 100 m rope (who on earth has one anyway?). Double 50m will do fine and you walk off the top. That's what we did around 15 years ago or so :) Unfortunately the weather is no good or I would have popped by. How long are you around for?

Yeah... I dint get the 100m rope thing either, but there is this little symbol in the claud et Yves Remy guide book. I thought maybe there were some long pitches--- Thanks for the beta... makes things easier.

I am around until mid September for sure, but I may end up staying until December [in that case I will be looking into what ice (I am a beginner on ice... never led, just seconded) may be around at that time of year...].

Let me know if you ever want to stop by before then.

Will do (next week is lined up for the Bergell with the second week of September as backup-date), perhaps we get lucky in between 8^)
