ok, heres the details:

On Saturday, September 23, 2006, THE ROCK Climbing Center together with
the Front Range Climbing Company and the Sport Climbing Center will host
the first annual "Red Rock Redpoint" outdoor climbing competition at Red
Rock Canyon Open Space in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Competition Details
Location: Red Rock Canyon (Colorado Springs)
Date: Saturday, September 23
Pre-registration: Available at THE ROCK, Sport Climbing Center,
Mountain Chalet, REI
Registration: 9 AM
Competition: 10 AM - 3 PM
Cost: $25 ($20 if pre-registered by September 16)

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded for 1st-3rd place in the following
categories:
Male Advanced
Female Advanced
Male Intermediate
Female Intermediate
Male Beginner
Female Beginner
Youth Male (14 and under)
Youth Female (14 and under)

The competition will use the "Redpoint" format which means that
climbers must reach the top of the climb without falling or weighting the rope.
However, they do not have to do this on their first try. Even if a
climber accomplishes this on his or her 20th attempt, he or she will still be
scored for the climb. Competitors will have five hours to complete as many
climbs as they want although they will only be scored on their top ten climbs.
Climbers must provide their own belayers and equipment.

The competition is open to all ages and abilities although participants
must demonstrate the ability to climb safely outdoors.

A portion of the proceeds will go to support the Friends of Red Rock
Canyon,
an organization that has been instrumental in developing and
maintaining the park for climbers and all other users of the open space.

For more information, contact THE ROCK at (719) 481-9099 or
info@climbingTHEROCK.com.
