I have this thing with bugs. I think that they're in every crack and pocket just waiting to bite/sting me. I've even gone as far as coming off a route just so I didn't have to touch them. I'm also afraid of clowns.

Snakes and rats. If I come across a bear in my travels I'm cool, calm and collected, but if I see a snake or a rat I run screaming like a frightened schoolgirl. If I see a snake or a rat on TV even I get some fierce shivers and do anything within my powers to lift my feet off the ground. (Needless to say, "the Bone Collector" traumatised me, and I have not watched "Anaconda".)

Someone getting hurt trying something they saw me do. At my company picnic this weekend, I did a backflip entertaining some of the kids when one of them said "I'm gonna try that".

The kid is fine. I stopped him from trying anything, but it alarmed me thinking my influence could be so dangerous.

the fear of bugs well not just bugs spiders. I cant stand all the spider webs at this one bouldering spot. If you dont go to it everyday you get spider webs in your holds. I cant be the first to climb this cause of this phobia. and I have a fear of someone not spotting over the sharp pointy rocks below.

I'm afraid of anything that stings. If I'm belaying my partner, it's terrible. A bee will start flying around me and I just have to ignore it instead of my normal screaming and running away! Call me a wimp, but I'm also afraid of the dark! Especially when I'm by myself!

Not a big fan (at all) of spiders. That's about it. Started climbing to get over the heights thing - it worked . Mick

let's just make this the anti-spider forum. ratstar, I do the same thing with my flytrap. I've had it for two years. He eats GOOOOOD! We have big Vampire spiders the size of a dime/nickle. OOOOhhhWWEEE!!! Ok, when I walk thru the web, I loose it. So, I have a stick at my front door, and back, and wave it up and down and side to side in front of me. My neighbors asked me why I did that. They thought I was doing a daily "blessing ritual" to my garden. They are full blown Hippies.

I almost stepped on a rattle snake when I was at morrison about a month ago. Now when I'm out cragging I'm looking in like all the little gulleys and under boulders....its quite funny actually. About another month and I shouldn't have to worry though.

I am a little afraid of having (too) little space. E.g. yesterday I tried to take off my sweater without teking off my chest harness and it was really scary when I was kinda stuck in it. I don't want to climb in large cracks either. If I would slip and get stuck between the two walls...

As i climb more, my fear of 4th class scrambing increases. It just totally psychs me out to be doing anything with exposure if I am off rope. Weird?

This one is probably just a me thing, but I can't stand having dry lips. I keep lip Gloss in my chalk bag, bouldering bag, school bag... everywhere. I can't stand the thought of having chapped, cracked, bleeding, and just non-moisturised lips.

Camhead, I feel your pain too. I get freaked out on high-exposure 4th-class scrambling now too w/o the rope. Think I've just become so accustomed to having it there, that w/o it I'm a wreck. Have had to make some pretty hairy scrambles doing 14'ers out here about 2000' up. One included a 4th-class/5.0 traverse across a knife edge for 100m from one peak to another with nothing but air around me for 2500' - talk about freaky! Mick
