Hey

i've heard legend of a bivy ledge around pitch 12 that is covered with feces and smells like a toilet... does anyone know if there is another bivy ledge?

i know it can be done in a day, but why not have the experience i'm looking for??

Anyway, if anyone has beta i'd love to hear about it. A friend and i are going to climb it this new years.

The local guides have cleaned up the bivy area extensively so that they can bring clients on the route. I think its a great idea - have fun!

because hauling would be a nightmare on the low-angle limestone.

When I did the route a few years ago, we got stuck behind an solo aid climber who was doing the whole route with etriers and a stick clip. He looked pretty miserable.

that said, the bivy ledge is kind of trashy, but it wouldn't be THAT bad to camp on.

IMHO, the sweetest bivy ledge in Potrero is at pitch 5 of Sendero Luminoso.

Bivy ledge was good when I did it. But that was when it was first put up. What wasnt good was climbing with 2 sleeping bags, food and water in my backpack. Hauling on the slab limestone just wasnt working. Still fun though.
