hey, I'm fairly new to competitions, I've only gone to a few local ABS's. I plan I going to the regionals in Philidelphia coming up. I was wondering if anyone could offer some insight about the level of competition. I can project about a v8-9 at my local gym and maybe onsight a v5-6 at comp. I want to know if I'm gonna get my a** handed to me at regionals. should I bump down to intermediate maybe?
I'm not fixatedabout winning something(so dont flame me Tongue), I would rather be able to climb challenging but fun problems if I were to get into the onsight finals.

Regionals is going to be kickass this year. It's at the new philly rock gym which is amazing and DR and Jeff Little are amazing route setters.
Personally, I alway enter open. To me winning intermediate wouldn't matter, I'd perfer to just enter open and see what happens (and doing that has gotten me into finals a few times). If you don't care about winning, just enter open and see what happens. True the Capital region has a lot of strong guys but whatever. No matter what you are guaranteed to have fun.

If you want to compete at the Onsite Finals of a ABS regional Competition, you will need to enter the "Open" catagory.

The Intemediate catagory will not have finals.

Check with ABS to find out.
