My dad sent me the same link. I told him, "Hell, I make leaps twice that far all the time, and most of the time I'm holding a six pack while I'm doing it." And I wasn't entirely kidding.

Moved. To climbing photography for the framing example.

I suspected something like that as I perused the photos. But I still can't really tell from the "debunking" photo how bad the landing is. It looks like a relatively short distance to the ledgey bit between the two spires, not much more then the usual bouldering fall (15 ft. or so). But if you somehow miss the ledge, or stumble off, it looks like you will fall quite a bit more. It looks like the tree branch in the foreground may be covering a big ledge, but that looks like a good 40-50 ft. down at least. If its even a ledge. You may not fall all the way to the bottom of the canyon, but it still looks nasty. Maybe its just an issue of the framing, even with the Snopes shot. But it still doesn't look like a trivial jump to me.

Hate to be the math nerd here, but.... There is no way that "The canyon's depth is 900 meters here" as stated in the link. The total depth from the south rim is ~1500 meters (~5000 feet), but the canyon is 10 miles across. It's a series of cliffs, slopes, and ledges. You don't get that deep from a single spot.
