Climbing in New Zealand Report this Post Average: (0 ratings)	Can't Post

I´m moving to Hastings New Zealand in July but I haven´t found any information about climbing in that area or in Hawkes Bay in general. I would be really glad if I could find any trad climbing possibilities there but I would also enjoy any sport route... All I want to know is if there´s a chance of climbing somewhere around.

Any particular reason this is a Poll, or in the TR forum!? Crazy

Good news for you though, mnatti is a big proponent of the climbing potential around Hawkes Bay.

There is plently of good climbing around Gisbourne.

All those places are within 2-3 hours drive. Ive been to Froggat Edge (and surronding area) and Whanganui Bay. Both places have simular rock patterns which don't make for good trad climbing but there alot of bolts (thousands of climbs) and some of them are really awesome :)

Check out the mojozone.co.nz as above.. there are plenty of craigs listed on that website and better directions :)
