You want me to safe, don't you? If I don't have [Don't mention you already have two] that number 1 Camalot, I'll have a hole in my protection that could lead to serious injury...[Dramatic pause]...or worse. And, baby, you know I want to be there for you when you get that cleft palate operation [May or may not apply. Modify as necessary]." If this doesn't work, maybe she deserves to be your ex. Or she is merely wise to your ways. Either way, buy it.

Maybe we should define what gear your talking about. See I'm the type of person that always likes to be prepared and i use that to justify buying more shit. For example: I've got like 3 harness's. One i don't use becasue its too big, but i keep it around "just in case" someone needs to use it. Then i've got at least 8 pairs of shoes, not including my retired ones (why?) Well, for the simple fact that i have will have a pair of shoes to fit every possible situation of climbing. And if i had the money i would probably own about 15 more pairs. I am assuming that the guy with 4 helmets feels the same way as i do. thankfully i'm not into trad yet or i would probably own at least 3 of everything "just in case" I am really bad with my backpacking gear. I have enough equipment to supply a small army....its really sad and theres no way in hell i would sell any of it so don't even ask.

richardvg03 wrote: Is there any such thing as having TO MUCH gear?? you can never have TOO much gear in general, assuming you can "afford" it (ie give up other stuff without dying) But it is definitely possible to have too much gear for a certain situation. ie a quadruple set of cams and triple set of nuts for a single pitch non-indian creek trad route....

HAHA I have 5 harness's... and I've only been climbing for about 3 months. I like to have it though just in case a friend wants to go climbing who has never been. It's a nice easy way to introduce the sport.

Although I'm jealous because I can't afford to go out and buy 5 harnesses, it seems like you might want to spend more time climbing then buying extra gear you don't need and obviously aren't using because you live online. And you can easily have too much gear: if you don't use it, then it's too much, regardless of how great it is to have it around.
