For the past 9 months I've been working on developing my skills and endless tweaking to obtain aerial video/photos.

Economical aerial imagery from RC Helicopters.

rig CVS camcorder , you can record 20 min mpeg at 600x400. This is a very light camcorder works on 2 AA.

I'm confused. Is this supposed to be a new idea? The movie industry has been using RC copters for quite a while now. They don't get much attention like the steady-cam but do get some very cool footage.

Woah...that's pretty cool. You should post pictures you take with it on this thread...that could be really awesome to see. I always thought it would be cool to have one with a camcorder that you could project a live image to a screen and could record video (goal of mine someday)...way to be, I'm really jealous.

No, it's not new. But it is new to most outdoor sports. They have been used some in mtn biking vids, but not much else.

Anytime someone steals a good idea and applies it to something they do I give them credit.

What you really need is one of those US Army/Airforce/Spec Ops arial drones. I've got stock in the company that makes one of them, but I really want one myself. Kinda the ultimate RC airplane.

I'd really like to see the photos you take with this setup, and if they are any good, I'll at least get my wife to allow another new toy (even if I never intend to use it for photography Wink

And you could equip it with Hellfire Missiles! Cool

That looks like a heavy setup. Is that camera holder made out steel? I would try a smaller camera and some lighter materials like carbon fiber.

The heli is all carbon fiber. The entire weight with camera and everything needed is sub 10 pounds.

It's portable......Wink

I don't know how unusual it is to lose control of the helicopter, but my friend was watching a commericial being shot with a heli-camera which got out of control and side swiped a parked pickup truck. It sliced the side panel of the truck like a knife thru butter (that's my friend's story, and he's sticking to it!).
