Heya all,
We've made some changes and upgrades to our Videos section. Most notably, we now convert all videos that are uploaded to Flash files (same as YouTube). This gets rid of a lot of cross-platform compatibility issues. It also reduces the streaming video file size making it easier and faster to watch.
In generating the Flash file the converter inevitably skims some of the display quality. We tried to find a good balance between file-size and the other benefits mentioned above and video playback quality.
For those who like to count the pixels we've added a "Download" button to the bottom of each video. Click on that to download the file in its original size and format. We display the size of the original file that you're about to download next to the button.
The Flash player has some built in controls. Click on the button on the far right of the player to see some options like: "fitting the video to the size of the player", if the original upload had small dimensions. Remember, stretching a small video will reduce the quality. Other controls include an Embed option. Click on this, copy-and-paste the code you see into your Blog or web page and your video is ready to be viewed on there.
Finally - we've increased the size of the viewable video "screen" from 320x256 pixels to 450x338 pixels We think our original settings were too small and we wanted to bring it in line with the developing trends for video online.
