I was wondering if anybody can give me some beta for Rumney camping...I have never been and i just moved to the east coast from AZ and i am heading up there for the first time this weekend..doesn't seem like the climbing is going to be hard to find, but I'm not sure where i am going to sleep...any free camping in a national forest? is the family farm across the street, that is in all the guide books, worth staying at...

hope everybody had a great long weekend, climb safe.

Avoid the farm... Camp at Campton, about 10 miles north. It's a national park.

Dude, I would just camp at the farm. Then you don't have to pay to park at the climbing area, you just walk over. It's a real nice spot. No rangers, nice river to take a dip in, walking distance to the climbing.

I was really happy with the place.

Buffalo Rd @43.801690, -71.828880

I believe that's it, it's right across the street from Rumney.

They gave me their card when I was there last weekend--phone number is 603-786-2330 if you want to get more info. I always stay there because it's cheap, convenient and pretty quiet. However, no pets or campfires--maybe that's why it's quiet.

I stay there almost all the time too.. I'm' not sure why you'd want to spend 20 bucks on a camp site in campton .. maybe if you had a big group but i dunno

Rumney is amazing, however I have never found a free place to lay my head. There is however this super chill organic fram called Dacres Organic Farm and Homestead. Its a really cool place to crash after a day of climbing, the food is great and its is relatively cheap compared to the other camp sites.

Sweet road trip, nice camp site, cold but refreshing clean river. It only cost 8 bucks per person.

Good to hear, i have stayed there several times and have nothing but good things to say about it. the convenience of waking up and walking across the street to the crags cant be beat.

as far as the owners go, be polite and respectful to them and they will be the same to you.

No campfires at the farm? There were two when I was there.
