How much does weight actually affect you? For example, if your 5.8 climber racks up with 100 draws, how much will that shut him down? Back to 5.7? All the way down to 5.4? Further? Also, how much do the nicer ropes help? I've been bootying gear all day to get the nicest rope. Finally, at what point can you dyno? I have 37/37/23 and still can't.

Like many cool ideas, letter grades were cut from the project two years ago in order to narrow the scope to something I (as one person) could handle. Many other ideas had to be cut: multi-pitch routes, aide routes, ice climbing, gear placement mini-games, gear that can pull, etc... the list goes on and on. I am constantly coming up with ideas that I have to put on the back burner. If I continue to add new and cool stuff, I'll never finish. So, for now, I am limiting the scope of the game so that I can finish what I have started. In November, when the full version is released, if people want more, we can do it ALL!"

I haven't done game work in a while but I could definitely whip up a few crags if I knew how they worked.

Hmm... Looks like Delphi. I once wanted to learn that but got turned off because of how difficult the IDE was to acquire with a 16 year olds budget . Maybe i'll leave new crags to Dana

Thanks for posting this up... it's pretty awesome, and also a monumentally bad thing for my work. Ah well, work can wait, this is a blast! I still can't dyno... ~38 strength.

I advise saving your character off before you become a 5.10 climber. I can't seem to start my game now due to a glitch and have emailed Dana the details.

Its pretty cool I spent an hour or so messing round with it last night, I’m only a 5.6 climber but its still fun. I had a few ideas on ways to improve it. for people who are too lazy to read the instructions it would be useful to have a beginners climb where you get talked through how things work i.e. basic instructions on how to move, clip gear, chalk up and get over some of the crux’s. It would be fun if you could buy different types of shoes which have different benefits, like boosting your technical abilities Some non climbing ways of earning money would be good, on my first go I tried climbing loads of routes and ended up leaving all my draws as bail biners and could not progress any further, the only thing I could do was start again. The crux where you have the circle thing around the character is really annoying. Other then this it was great fun, cant wait for the full version.

Do you have any more details to how this happened? Were you close to a clip/anchors? Do you fall and then slide off or immediately shoot off the screen? Just curious because I've never seen it and when speaking to Dana he hasn't been able to recreate it.

I've been trying to recreate it too - OK guys, this is your goal, see if you can do it and make it so its repeatable and consistent...

I don't know about you guys, but at this point, I'd personally rather just see a whole bunch of new routes to climb at first, before other stuff on the game gets done. Sure, things like buying new shoes, easier ways to get money, etc would be nice... but I've done all but 3 routes so far. New additions and features would be kinda pointless without new routes to try them on. I dunno though, maybe it's just me. I'm like that in real life too... never totally satisfied unless I'm climbing something I've never done before.

I concur, more routes is the key to this game, more than anything else. Honestly, just having sport and having a TON of routes, would be awesome.

From Dana: Dan, I did upload a new version. It's nearly identical to version 1.5, but I implemented a couple of things that may take care of the "fly off the screen" bug. One question: can you talk me through just how you get your character 'stuck'. Thanks, Dana

Today - though my palms were sweaty and I was really nervous, I dropped the harness and started soloing. I didn't really do it for myself, but for my bragging rights to everyone on the site. Its all that matters to me now- I'm a joe whore.
