Red River Gorge is almost literally out my back door. I can't resist too long, but I have no gear and not nearly enough experience to keep myself from dying going by myself. So, i was wondering if anyone would like to take me out. I'm pretty easy to get along with and low maintenance. I can attempt to be your pack-horse, but keep in mind: I am a girl. I'm not necessarily looking for a member of either sex, either will do, not uptight. Any takers?

Or would you even do it if you could?

Absolutely! That is, I would if I could.

That is a great way to approach a mentor or friend or just some helpful person who knows the ropes and wants to share the knowledge. I'm sure you'll be able to find a group to climb with since you have such an honest and positive attitude. Although don't be afraid to be somewhat discerning about the person or people you go with. When I first started out I was so eager that I went with some fun people that really didn't know what the hell was going on. We had a great time but were lucky no one got hurt. Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and if the person seems unsure then maybe they are. But in that area I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a competent mentor/s. Have fun and be safe and maybe consider using a guide service. Wink

Go to www.redriverclimbing.com and ask there. There are many people that would be willing to help you. Another option would be to go to Miguel's and try to find a partner there. If the weather is decent, it shouldn't be a problem finding a partner. Good luck finding someone.

because I feel like I may have better luck finding a partner if this discussion is in the category in which Kentucky is included...

I will try and remember you when I head to the red. I only go a cpl times a year although I may try to go more since a friend I climbed with moved near cincy and goes there more. I have taught beginers and don't walk too fast.

I am planning to do a serious road trip this summer climbing, hiking, mtn biking and any other outdoor adventure that pops up. I am in TN now and would like to get together with someone that wants to do a bunch of local stuff, get comfortable as a team and then hit the road and head west in june-july for atleast 30 days. If you are interested drop me a note and lets do some climbing.
