Tried getting up there last weekend, May 17th, and the road was still closed. Hoping to try again this weekend.

Didn't even make the attempt due to the weather. Hiked Mt. Baden-Powell in the San Gabriels instead, and there was eight inches of fresh powder there. Looking north to the Southern Sierras you could see a fresh blanket of snow on them as well. Bizarre weather for Memorial Weekend. Not sure when I'll be able to have another go at the Needles. Keep us posted if anyone else makes it up there.
