Get some GOOD bug killer, exterior/interior (DEET, kerosine, DunbarXXX, etc..) - just got back earlier this evening from having an embedded female deer tick removed from my 'gutt' area - sucked, plus I had to drive four hours with this thing ridin' along - Doc prescribed antiobitics, I added a fifth of Jim Beam to increase safety factor (maybe two, have a gift certificate left over from Christmas, can never be too careful) - pretty creepy - doesn't hurt but looks like a .22 caliber bullett wound - that thing was really dug in - careful in the high brush/weeds - I understand that the deer ticks are more prevailent in wet/lowland areas (thats where I was). Hopefully no 'Lyme Disease' - Doc said "don't worry". Hope this is helpful.

As long as you have the antibiotics on board you are ok. As the unofficial team doc of the WPA forum if any of you need some advice especially those lacking in the insurance dept don't hesitate to ask me a question and I will answer the best I can.

A lot of these places are near you. One that comes to mind is Panther Caves. http://www.rockclimbing.com/.../Northwestern_region jharkless might be able to show you around. As for guiding/learning services, I've heard good things about the classes offered by Exkursion. May be a bit far from you though (Monroeville).

Thanks for the info guys. I actually live in the north hills (Pine Twp) and work in Forest hills. My camp is south of Tionest a couple of miles from Panther caves. I will have to check it out this weekend if the weather cooperates. I am also not to far from the Mills and have hiked there a lot.

I spent a great extended weekend in CO. Visiting many friends, and attending a wedding/party, so only got one day of climbing in, but it was incredible. Sandstone is great too, but I miss climbing limestone! Shelf Road always rocks my socks off. Got on some harder climbs (for me) and had a blast. Anyone heading west, that loves pulling pockets and the best scenery this side of most anywhere, should definitely get to Shelf. (southern colorado if you're searching the database) I don't have free weekends for a while yet, but in July I'd love to get out more around here.

Depending on what you need you should check out legalzoom.com they have a lot of standard documents for forming a corporation, liability, etc. Plus, it's cheap. Like $150 to set up a corporation. I heard about them on Howard Stern and checked it out....pretty cool.

Hey everyone. So I made it out to Tim's (climbpa)new crag "Rivers End" @ Ohiopyle this wwekend with the wife & mike_devildog. It is a really nice crag if you are into steep overhanging sport routes. Most of the routes are probably hard 10's &11's. It is definately wicked overhanging, juggy, and pumpy. We did encounter some loose rock and a few spiders the size of rotweilers. Take your bike as it would be a nice ride in on rail-trail. Looks like there are more walls there to be developed and when it's all said and done with this will probably be the destination in SW-PA. Nice work Tim!!! Bryan...

Due to the Search and Recovery that took place in Ohiopyle, the volunteers were unable to work on the trail into the new Bruner Run Climbing area as scheduled on June 7. Needless to say we need volunteers to come in and help so we can get the area open for climbers. If you have some free time and can handle physical labor, please shoot Stacie an email, stfaust@state.pa.us. Also if someone wants to spend sometime, and map out routes to be included on a kiosk, that would be greatly appreciated.

It is good to see that no one is posting here so they must be out climbing. I think it has been wet alot lately. I have managed to get out a bit lately, but not as much as I would like. Chessman and kennedy rd. at the mill seem to be open again. There are no signs on the park end. I have some friends climbing in lisbon today but I think it might be wet yet. cya on the rock.

Hello everybody! Here's my situation here. At the moment I'm really getting into rock climbing but the only place I have been to so far is the wall at my school. http://www.recsports.ufl.edu/lake_climbing.aspx So I haven't even seen a real rock before (being in Florida doesn't help) Now in August I'll be in Butler, Pa for a few weeks and it would be awesome if I could somehow get some real rock experience when I'm around. One problem I have is the gear. I'm getting shoes soon but I don't even have a harness so maybe I should just look into bouldering? The wall at UF only allows their own equipment so I wouldn't be able to use anything if I did have it. I don't know anybody in Pa that knows anything about rock climbing either. Any ideas would be welcome here!

I just got into rock climbing recently (6 weeks). No car in Pittsburgh, so I've only been to The Climbing Wall gym out in Point Breeze. I've pretty much just done bouldering there, though I took their short class to grasp some of the basics of top roping, which I've done once. I'm looking to get some real rock experience and learn from more experienced climbers so if anyone if traveling out to the local climbing areas I'd love to tag along (no worries, I'm not looking to freeload ). I'm currently out in Sq Hill, though I'll prob be moving to the North Side soon.
