A really young guy, maybe 12 or 13, took a long fall from one of the top-rope walls near an autobelay tonight at the Planet Rock gym in Ann Arbor. I was upstairs and didn't see the fall, but I heard the impact. Someone I asked said that the climber thought he was on belay (either the nearby autobelay or regular top-rope belay - I'm not sure which) but was in fact unroped. He seemed to be conscious and talking, and paramedics took him out pretty quickly.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for his health.
Anyone have further details?
