A lot more to it than just this video. But as videos go I think it captures it better than almost anything I have seen.
It's just a music video..not really meant for climbers specifically...

really? thats it?
I climb so that my friends and people i don't know think i'm hardkore. And maybe for that little look the instructor lady at the gym gives me when she sees me lunge for the finish hold on the red route.
maybe you should rethink why you are climbing.

you are working way to hard and counterproductively if you climb to get laid...
pretty much no one cares about what you climbed...
However I have in the past climbed for both reasons...to some degree...
But deep down this vid ..comes close to the core..

I climb mostly for the workout...but I also climb because I love to overcome challenges, I like to look at a problem and say,"I can never do that" keep working at it through out my climb sesh and eventually get it...I love climbing through my crux, I love having that feeling of accomplishment when finishing a boss route knowing that I climbed that son of a gun and nobody could tell me otherwise. I climb so I can be outdoors enjoying nature, I climb so I can have fun with my climbing partner and b.s. about how amazing I am at bouldering even though I climb V2's on a regular basis. I climb for that rush of reaching as far as I can for a hold that seems unreachable...
I climb for myself...that pretty much sums it up

Personally, I think there's a hell of a lot more to climbing than can be communicated in a 4 minute video......especially one made by somebody else with a lame song in the background.

Err...yeah, I like climbing because of threads like this.
Everyone climbs for different reasons and that's what's fun about it.
There are soooooo many different people climbing now it's very eclectic.
Deep down it's plain bloody (sometimes literally) fun.

I bought my shiny's in anticipation of moving to Denver from Detroit and perhaps not having the same discount! Can't wait to use 'em.
