Sounds like a great time, but it's going to take some maneuvering to re-arrange commitments for that weekend.

Gear's not an issue, can camp if need be, but a few square feet of floor space somewhere would be even better.

Anybody else thinking of flying in, pm me and maybe we can split a rental car. Geo, do we need 4wd? What are the trailhead options?

Largest early season snowbase ever! The skiing should be great!. The first colorado avalanche death was last week at loveland so please remember to bring your beacon, shovel and probe if you plan to do any skiing...

I can also offer a place to stay for anybody travelling through Denver either before or after the big event. I have plenty of floor space and live about 5 blocks from the REI flagship in case anybody needs to rent equipment or get any last minute supplies. If people are flying in I can also make an airport run to gather a bunch of people.

Looks like I won't be able to make this one after all.

A couple weeks ago I hung a Win2k server on my home network as a study aid for an MCSE course I'm taking. Since I knew a firewall would complicate some already complicated network applications I wanted to run, I left it off until I was able to get the other programs working right.

Hackers got in, and appear to have been planning to use my network as a base for offensive operations, since I found 20+ variants of the Nimda worm TFTPed to a directory on my server.

I broke all connections with the network backbone, and am now rebuilding all the computers on the network, having re-partitioned, run a zero fill, and then re-repartitioned all my harddrives.

Not only have I lost 11 years worth of data, (the backups had to be classified "potentially compromised" too), but I am now somewhat behind the curve for my classes and will have to play catch up.

Sorry to miss what looks like a great trip, and I'll keep my eyes open for the next one.

I haven't done either Pacific or Atlantic peaks yet, so those would be fine with me.

Bad news guys ....

I'm not going to be able to make it . I'm getting ready to move (again) and have to start getting things ready for the movers to come.

I sure wish I could get one last gathering in, but I'm afraid it's not going to work out. Have fun and spare no details when you return!

CARPOOLING FROM DENVER:

I'm leaving Friday night around 8p.m. I have room for one or two other people (want a ride, Carson???), if anyone's interested. I'll be driving back to Denver after the SUCCESSFUL summit on Saturday. I drive a beautiful 1998 4 wheel drive V6 red Toyota 4runner with some swank leather seats.

Also, Mntgeo, could you post some more details (ratings, what gear will be needed) about the possible route(s) up Pacific Peak? I think you mentioned the west ridge? And, more importantly, will you have coffee available Saturday morning????

Again, thanks to Mntgeo for getting this going!

I'm going to be renting boots & crampons, and I was just wondering what type i should get? Plastic boots are probably not needed if im not going to be ice climbing, right?

I hope you all have a blast - stay safe and quickly cover any exposed skin Never thought I'd be the one with a family football game injury - thought that was just for the old and fat.

Damnit! I'm not coming. Reading the game plan just makes it hurt more too. I just can't pull myself away right now, though I tried. I sincerely wanted to meet all of you and will be scowling bitterly and wiping away frozen tears as I pound nails on my house while you all are pounding ice tools and pints.
Montain George, Martha, and the rest of you, I hope this really is an "annual" thing, and I hope the spring gathering works out too because you people have become friends and I am honestly bummed to miss my chance to hang out with you all. Climb hard, and send me that summit pic. (sob)
