Mentioning Barry reminded me of one of our trips up to Courtright this Summer with Chris and Herb. While going up "Balance of Power" with Mr. Laeger leading the first pitch of his seldom climbed classic, I noticed 2 old guys, the first guy just about getting to the P1 anchor of "Straw Dogs". For fun I decided to pull out my camera (which I never bring) and get some shots, when lo and behold this guy who I later learn is Barry, takes a good 30 to 40ft whipper. I am able to get him just as he stopped falling with him giving the thumbs up sign. We get to the top and find out it's Barry and another gentleman (name escapes me), whom I've never met, however Herb does know them, had a lively chat, and suffice to say we put up a new route on Punk Dome with Barry putting in a couple of bolts, called it "The Cobbler". What a nice guy.
