The Ice Festival celebrates its fifth year returning with ice climbing clinics and gear demos, winter camping , snow shoeing, and skijoring. Plus, the big news for this year is that super-star climber, mountain guide, and recent Alpinist Magazine cover model, Dawn Glanc will be the main speaker at the event. Celebrate the Season and join the fun December 11-13 at the Sandstone Ice Festival http://www.sandstoneicefest.com

Any plans to farm ice? Other than the clinic area? If this quarry was farmed aggressively, Sandstone could be a great ice fest. As it's been the last two years, I'm torn on even making the drive. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the work that goes into organizing, I just hate to see the this festival's potential not being met. Thanks!

The plan is to start adding water during the Thanksgiving weekend, then again the week before the festival. I recently had a meeting with some Sandstone city officials about adding a city water line to make it easier to farm ice. The community support is stronger then ever and the possibility for an ice park is looking very good.
