joshua tree national park utah nevada Arizona - in the summer its going to be like 100F at night. way to hot in the summer to climb comfortably yosemite - a good choice, but a lot of people will be there colorado - for summer climbing this would be my choice. Montana - also has some great climbing, and the days are in the 80 and 90 so the temperatures are nice too. Washington has some nice climbing and the temeratures are pleasant in the far east part and far west part, the center is dry and hot.

Wyoming would also be pretty nice, Sinks, Tensleep, etc. If you wanted to Trad climb, I would recommend the PNW. Probably the best summer climbing in the country.

For sport climbing in the summer, I'd say tensleep in wyoming. The climbing is superb, the setting is gorgeous, it's high up, so it'll stay cool, and you even get a lake near your camping, like you asked for! Only thing is, I'm not aware of any bouldering in the area. Cheers, GO

I didnt think about tensleep. that would be a wonderful choice. I plan to make a trip there in the next week or two.

Climbing in Northern Arizona isn't too bad depending where you go. Phoenix and Tucson would not be the place to go. That bieng said, Ive mostly only climbed in AZ. Jacks Canyon is a bit south of Winslow, AZ. here is the info on this site: http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Northern/Jacks_Canyon/ also for a guide go to jackscanyon.com Yeah, there are probably better places in the US, but it is a real fun place for sportclimbing.
