Meet-up in the Franken for all the RC.com/UKC users and anyone else! Beer, campfire, grilling and maybe some climbing if absolutely nescessary.

Date.- 3rd/4th July (IŽll be there on the afternoon of Friday 2nd).
Location.- Campsite "Kormershof" at Allersdorf, near Kleingesee (Goßweinstein) in the centre of the Franken. http://www.kormershof.de/index.php3
All the usual facilities, matratzenlager, communal kitchen, felsenkeller etc. They sell beer, eggs, bread etc. Children and dogs permitted, play area. Large campfire place. Nearest crag (Lindenstein)100m.

IŽll be there with my family (two boys 5 & 6 and herself and the dog) so bring them along if youŽve got some! IŽve a number of spare tents etc so if anyone needs anything drop me a mail.
Americans, we know it is your national holiday and you are welcome to use this rare opportunity to patronise us Brits as much as you like but youŽre buying the beer!!!!!

Jim, I didn't know you were a Pom!

The Fourth without fireworks isn't quite the same, but as long as there is beer and BBQ, it'll work Tongue

I would love to be there, but I can't guarentee anything. It is major crunch time for school until the 17th of July Frown

I will see if I can swing an overnighter though...

You know that a place with 276 breweries, over 860 crags and more than 8000 routes makes sense!

So....how was it!? What did we miss?

Other than a short reprise to watch the game on Saturday, I had the pleasure of sitting in from of my computer most of the weekend....Pirate

Well, it was a bit like real life, some Brits turned up punctually and the Americans were a no-show!
Got a bit done on the Saturday in the heat (struggled and got spanked is more like it) then sat with my feet in the river, beer in hand watching the Argies getting trashed.
Sunday took the kids to a rope adventure park and spent the time shouting at them for clipping wrong way etc.

Next meet will be the southern Frankenjura in perhaps 4 weeks so I can get my own back on the finger-pocket pullers!

Wish I'd seen this then the Americans would not have been a no show :-).

Any winter climbing that is good? I live up north, but an in Munich from time to time and have not climbed in the Franenjura yet.

In the north......no! I lived in Hannover for a number of years, and if you in the north you are SOL from Dec through April, give or take a day or two somewhere inbetween.
The good news is, further south, it is drier Cool So, even if there is snow on the ground, it can get quite warm in the right places in the middle of winter.

We are a little further south than Hannover, just outside of Cologne. I am hoping the Pfalz will hold some good days for the winter. Or... just keep driving south :-)
