In search of a super motivated female climbing partner. Pre-requisites: A lot of desire to be a well-rounded climber, I.e. Bouldering, sport climbing, trad, Alpine routes in the mountains, roadtrips in the states and possibly Europe. Age bracket: 30 to 45. Somebody who climbs whenever possible, even when they should probably doing something else.

I pride myself on being a supportive climbing partner, partly through self-interest, the stronger my climbing partner is the stronger I am able to get. Someone who can hike uphill for five hours with a heavy pack and still have smile on her face. If you are solid in the mountains I will climb with you.

I started climbing in 84, climbed in taquitz, suicide, j-tree, tuolumne for a four years. Bouldered in Hueco starting in 88. Then became a sport climber/boulderer for another five years. Then moved to Colorado and bouldered with some alpine, but mostly skied backcountry.
Anyway had a lifestyle change and spent most of the last three years on a roadtrip and am just about as fit as I have ever been. Now I am working in orange county, Calif. with a flexible schedule.

Currently climbing: Alpine up to easy 5.10 so far, boulder up to v7 (want a v10), trad up to mid 5.11 and sport up to easy 5.13. I have fun at any grade but I do like to push myself.

Favorite areas: Joshua Tree, needles in Calif., Cochise stronghold, Indian creek, high sierra, red river gorge, Tuolumne, Buttermilks, Hueco, paradise forks, maple canyon, RMNP, south Platte, Mt. Charleston, El salto and the potrero.

I am currently single and wouldn’t mind finding a climbing/life partner that I could be in a relationship with. But I also would be fine with a strictly climbing partners friendship. I definitely prefer to have a regular climbing partner that I can count on and that loves to climb as much as I do.

Dan

Hmmmm! Did'nt know this was a dating service. Good luck, but you may want to lower your standards (climbing skills as least). I know very few male or female climbers who do all you are looking for.

Sounds like what you need is Steph Davis

You'll have to get past Dean Potter first tho...

Good luck in the partner search!

V3 bouldering vs. pushing 5.13 sport...that's a bit of a disparity.

anyway I've known dean and steph for 10 years or more.
sent the diggler at maple canyon this summer and on-sight putting the draws in on a 12c called reliquary at the red river gorge.
My last girlfriend/climbing partner onsights 12a and sent a 12d at maple, boulders v4, solo's 5.8 alpine, trads easy 5.11.
she is a member of this site to
And finnaly I could care less about a dating service, what I would really like is to meet some real climbers, but I guess I am looking in the wrong place. Anybody real out there?

There are real people on the site, but you may have to wait longer than a few hours for your ideal partner to stop by. Personally I only climb up to about easy to moderate 10's on gear, but am pushing myself with the intent of pulling easy 11 on gear, easy 10 alpine, and WI5+ at some point in the not-so-distant future. that's just me. if you hadn't stated you were looking for chicks and I hadn't moved away from California, I'd for sure take you up on your offer.

Really man, the "good luck" was sincere. Maybe I shoulda dressed it up with a smiley but I didn't mean no harm.

But when you say you're looking for a woman in particular, people will assume you want a girlfriend. If that's not the express intent, then why do you specifically ask for a chick partner?

I'll vouch for Dan. He's a good climber and really isn't being arrogant. You seem like a very down to earth guy, despite what people here seem to think (good to meet you by the way ). It will be hard to find climbers at your level..I'm definitely not one..there are some but most of them already have steady partners at their level and don't want to lose them, unfortunately. My suggestion to you is to find a few people who may be at a lower level who you could help move up. You would benefit in the end by building a strong partner but it would take some work. You seem like a good teacher and someone patient so you'll probably do well with it if you're willing to take the time....Best of luck to you. You're glad to join our group again any time--next time you are welcome to climb with us and not just near us if you want--hope you guys had as good a time as you seemed to.

It's not that hard to find climbers at that level. I'm not one of them (I might be if I freakin' ever go to climb anymore), but my roommie in Tuolumne fit that perfectly (free-solos 5.8 though). I have a feeling that she wouldn't be a taker, though. Sorry. I think gals that are that serious are not apt to have a computer to fool around with RC.com

Hey susan
thanks for the kind words. I would like to climb "with" your group sometime. The whole big group scene through me off a little. It has been a while since i have hung in a big group. anyway once you guys decide where to go I will get back to you.

As far as why I prefer to climb with women. That is a complicated question.
Probably has to to with why they climb. It doesn't have so much to do with their ego, as oppossed to most guy's. They are less likely to get hurt getting in over their head. (usually to much so)
I don't mind climbing with guy's, and I would probably be stronger if I did.

As far people who think I am not being truthfull. What would be the point of that. I didn't put anything in my bio that I would consider spray.
Dan

anyway back to work

skibabeage
well you sure have a burr up your ___
I do fine at 14,000 feet, weather it is soloing the long's peak trail in tennies and a tanktop in winter. or driving my car to the top of one and skiing the y-couloir on pikes. Have you skied the skywalker couloir in the indian peaks. Taken avy courses to level three for mountain guides. Taken a wilderness first responder course. Skied in the Chugach.
Anyway I am done with all that. (to hard on my knees)
I am fine with trolling for a particular type of climber partner. and I don't see anything wrong with casting as big of a net as I can. It worked for me last time.
Dan

Why are some people being so mean to this guy? Are we maybe a little intimidated by someone who climbs so well?

Why should he lower his standards? He's looking for a climbing partner that might turn into a girlfriend, not a girlfriend who he can teach to climb.

He didn't specify looks, religion, kids, marital status - any of that dating stuff.

Dan, you look like a great partner for some lucky hardwoman. Hope you find her.

Anna

I agree with Anna. On first read, the post did sound a bit like a singles ad. However as I read it a second time I see there is not one single element in Dan's message to support that view. I think we are all simply envious and WISH we could meet his qualifications! There is nothing wrong with looking for a climbing partner in a very specific manner as Dan is doing here. I think people who are reacting negatively should look in the mirror.

Good luck, Dan! If I qualified I would love to climb with you.

Demeaning to women?
I thought it was a kind request.

Check out my profile. That could be construed as demeaning to women. But then the sticker (RubberRoom) on my helmet is too. I guess that's why feminist chicks dig me.

Really, my wife..er...sweety...uh..lover...um...gyno-compliment...eh spouse is a dyed in the wool feminist.

Isn't the moniker "skibabeage" condenscending to women as well.

Lighten up.

Bet you haven't felt you have gotten as many women replies as you would have hope, huh? However, the guys seem to reply rather quickly. I thought women had high standards but I am definatly taken aback by your strict list. I am all for having an equal and someone who enjoys what you do but you were just so specific! Oh well, I don't fit your standards I am almost 21 and so you probably wouldn't want to waste your time with me. (however I will give you a tip and suggest you search for someone using the "find people" button. They will let you select and age, sex and residence)
