I voted Seneca, but the Gunks and Cathedral will probably be just as bad. I thin the Red and the New are your best bets. The crags are diverse enough, both geographically and in terms of style, that you should have no trouble beating the crowds if you just avoid the Lake, Sandstonia, Beer Wall, etc.

Hmm.
This thread should be quite effective at allowing me to maximize the efficiency of my flailing and spraying about how I "FUCKING TWO-FALLED THIS P.O.S. CLIMB A MONTH AGO" and how the female belayer's boyfriend's project next to me is "not an obvious line, aesthetically displeasing, and probably at least 2 letter grades soft"--but don't worry, it's still cool that he's into that.

Otter Cliffs in Acadia is pretty bad on Labor Day weekend. But quite comical.
True! but the trad areas are usually fine.
This will be my first time skipping Acadia for Labor Day. Headed to the Adirondacks!
You guys should visit the Black Arches Wall on Crane Mt.
If all goes well, I'll be in the western 'dacks that weekend playing around either Bald mtn or Good Luck cliffs. I haven't been back to Maine in several years

I voted the Gunks, though I've never been to Cathedral or Seneca. However, having been to the New, the Gunks, and the Red on very busy holiday weekends, I can say it's pretty easy to find uncrowded places at all those places, just as long as you don't have your heart set on Rico Suave, Ro Shampo, or High E.
We're headed to Looking Glass; hope that won't be too crowded.

I was at Cathedral a couple of weeks ago, and I would venture to guess that every route under 5.8 had a waiting line 2-3 parties deep at 10 am. The 5.10's and up had traffic, but there were plenty of options to find an empty route if your intended line was occupied.
South Buttress of Whitehorse was oddly vacant the same day, but hot as it faces south. It should be OK for Labor Day. Humphries, Sundown, and Band M are all options within 20 minutes drive.

The Nose area in the am or the North Side all day temperatures should be fine at LG. South Side can get kinda hot, but there've been some tolerable days recently. Elevation is about 3,000 ft so you get that benefit. Come on down!

Yosemite Valley.
This is true. When I worked at the Curry Village coffee shop, we had a line stretched from the counter all the way out the buffet doors and around the building every morning Labor Day Weekend. It was insane.
