Fellow climbers, I'll be travelling to Hong Kong in a couple of days time and I'm looking to shop for climbing shoes and a rope. Would there be any recommendation on where do I start looking?
Currently the following outlets are the ones I've found online: Would you happen to know if there are other places that I could start looking? Thanks

Check out http://www.hongkongclimbing.com they have a list of stores and directions too. They also have great climbing info for the HK area.

just moved to hong kong from jackson hole. i've been to all of the climbing shops in the last few weeks. some of the info on hk climbing is not up to date (shops moved or closed). give me a shout if i can help at all, i'm happy to suggest particular stores for specifics- seems like you can get most of the things a climber could want here, but not all in one place. also, let me know if you want to catch up to crag while you're here...

Hey Jody, thanks for the heads up but unfortunately I'm travelling with my family so I won't be able to hit the hills even if I wanted to if you know what I mean.
Would you mind sharing with me some of the places that you go to? My flight is due in about 9 hours from now so any information you throw at me would be a god send. Thanks for your time and effort.

shoes: chamonix (6a nelson st) or hong kong mountaineering training centre (1k fa yuen choi st) (strange name, but it's a climbing shop). These shops are about three blocks from each other in a neighborhood called mongkok- both are just a few blocks from the mongkok mtr stop (the mtr system is super easy to use and well marked). beware- mongkok is one of the most densely populated places on the planet. so, when you go, know that you are getting the full hk experience. anyway, you should be able to find both of these places on line to google map.
for a rope- i'm not in the market for a rope, so i didn't look too well, but both chamonix and hkmtc have ropes, however, you could hit up one of the many mammut stores- it looked like they had a relatively good selection of mammut ropes...

shoes seemed less expensive than the states, but ropes seemed equal or more expensive.

Yeah doing that right now and thanks for the heads up; looks like I'll be checking out the Mammut stores and see if I can get a good bargain.

Hi. How did your shopping go in Hong Kong?
I will be passing thought there next week and wanted to get a new rope of the price is good.

Suffice to say I bought alot of stuff which included a 50m rope from Beal. If i remember correctly you automatically qualify for a 20% discount if you purchase more than HKD300 in a single receipt.
I was at Chamonix for your information and the one i went was at G & 1F., 1K Fa Yuen Street, Mongkok, Kowloon. YOu need to pay close attention as the entrance is very small and you have to go up a flight of stairs first before hitting the shop.

Great, thanks. I will stop in there and have a look. I like the search to find those shops. It adds a unique experience to an ordinary shopping day.
Though getting new gear is never an ordinary day!

Yes I manage to buy my gear in Chamonix and the last time I was there, they had quite alot of shoes available.
