Can anyone recommend a place to stay near Ouray Ice Park that is not to expensive. Also is it necessary to have a rental car?

Thanks

I have stayed at the Box Canyon Lodge and I liked it a lot. I would stay there again. Friends stayed at the Victorian Inn (or something like that) they liked it as well. These two are across the street from each other.

You do not need a car in Ouray, the Ice Park is VERY close, you won't finish your cup of coffee on the walk. It's that close.

I needed a car to get to Ouray, since you cannot fly direct.

I had a great time, definetely join the Ice Park, they make it worth your while with various discounts.

Enjoy, it is a great destination, I will be back some time.

I have stayed here and highly recomend it: http://www.riversedgeouray.com/

as others have said, you will need ground transportation to Ouray but not once you're there.

I'm pretty sure you can get a shuttle from Montrose airport to Ouray.
riverside cabins is pretty inexpensive, but you'll need a vehicle to get to the park. Best western, box canyon lodge and the victorian are really close to the park and I think they all have free breakfast. I like to stay at the comfort inn. a bit further from the park than the other but but right off main street

+1 for the Comfort Inn

A little further to walk in the mornings to the ice park, but closer to everything else in the evenings. Nice rooms, great breakfast, and very friendly owners!

+1 also for Comfort Inn

One of the owners is an ice climber -- they're super-friendly!
