Anyone been up to big bear lately? (Holcomb Valley) Are the roads to the pinnicles open (van dussen canyon) Still snow on the ground? Any info would be appreciated.

Went Memorial Day Sat. No snow to be seen except on the top of San Gorgornio. We did Van Dussen in a VW GTI. Crazy Rough but very passable. The weather has been slightly on the cool side upper 60's, but very nice for climbing.
Oh, and it was somewhat crowded that weekend, but we did find climbing.

nice! I have a 2010 GTI, good to know I could drive that if i had to, but ill probably take our 67 bronco, no nee to beat up the VW. Thanks for the info!!

Yea, not the best choice, slow w/ the low profile tires. And we stopped 1/4 mile before the south parking area rather drive through a shallow pool that pretty much covered the whole dirt road. But that didn't stop anyone else.
The rest of the road was completely dry.

Nice, thanks for the info. And stopping for puddles is always a good idea in a car like that, I have pulled out a few compacts with our bronco/my tacoma over the years.
