Tahquitz, first "real" multi-pitch

Figured I would throw a link to my recent adventure on Tahquitz. I climbed The Trough with a friend and it was just a great day. Special thanks go out to rgold who posts here on rc.com, and the rest of the guys who post in the trad forum with helpful tips and hints. I'm very much a beginner and it's sometimes tedious sifting through all the BS on this site, but there is some good info to be found.

I apologize for the link, it's just too much work to reformat everything along with the pictures here.

Sounds like a good trip and a good climb. And, yeah, route-finding errors are common on longer and multi-pitch climbs. There's (almost) never enough information to know exactly where to go for that long of a climb.

Nicely written, a good adventure. Even easy trad works your head, huh? Sounds like you are making good decisions and having fun - keep it up :)

Sounds like a great day, and a great write-up. Well done on all counts, and congrats on the baby.

My favorite part was the tension traverse.

Great write up. I hope you don't mind—I shared this out to my company's FB page.

Nice write up of a fun experience. One safety thing. You show a picture of your rope lying on the pavement in a parking lot. Droppings from an automobile engine can damage a rope. There've been a couple reported cases of ropes failing from lying in a parking area.

Take care and more good adventures.

Well done: both the writing and decision making. I'm a beginning trad climber too, and enjoyed learning from this experience you shared. THANKS!

Great report, thanks for sharing that. Now that you have the Trough behind you, set your sights on White Maidens Walkaway. Brilliant, fun beginner route. It up's the ante a bit and there is definitely route finding. Get an early start.

Good for you guys! Also, I second the comment on leaving your ropes on the ground of a parking lot. That's really bad news. DON'T DO IT!

Post up another report when you complete White Maiden!

Ah, good tip about the rope. It never crossed my mind but I will avoid doing that in the future. I appreciate all the comments, just got back from a trip to the Sierras with the same climbing buddy where we attempted Mt. Agassiz. Attempted. Unsure

Will check out White Maidens, that sounds like a good one.
