Just about to put together my own climbing/traversing wall. Only have 44 holds at present & wanting to build something that I & the kids can use. Looking for any tips on how to get the best out of the holds & space that I have. Wall is about 8 feet high & 12-15 feet long to start with depending on how I rearrange the garden.

No climbing experience & I expect the kids to kick my butt at what ever gets builtLaugh

Cheers

I'd say you'll need to go down to your local climbing gym and throw one of the route setters some bills to put up a few V0s and V1s on your wall.

I think you may also be able to download templates for routes.

I'm not flaming but it seems like between this and the fingerboard you are trying to do a lot of training for climbing but you don't climb?

Don't do things by halves, if I'm going to do a new sport/endeavor I like to do it properly.

Does climbing over garages, walls & up trees for hours as a kid count for my climbing experience?Laugh

I've trained for over 25 years in a lot of things & climbing is the next thing I want to tackle not only for myself but also as something I can enjoy with the rest of the family. Once the kids see me doing & enjoying they'll be all over the wall like a swarm of ants..more so if they think they can beat dad..lol

Intend to have fun. That's what sports are all about. Once we've conquered the "8 foot wall" I might just talk the wife into letting me put a route all the way up the side of the houseTongue
