Hurricane Irene's rain and wind had a major impact across the entire Adirondack Park. Many road closures and towns suffered severe flooding damage Sunday August 28, 2011. Please call ahead and check online for the latest information. We are posting updates at the Adirondack Rock and Ice Climber's http://www.adkrock.com website (facebook, news feed, and news banner available).

I'm looking for info on Poke-O. I know the Northway is open and that you can climb there post-Irene.

I'm wondering about the campground. It is not listed as closed on a recent list that I saw, but I also remember seeing a photo showing seemingly significant damage. Can anyone confirm if it is open?

Any other reports of conditions at the cliff are welcome.

Thanks.

P.S. Stoop you may want to post on your page about the Governor's pledge to get 73 reopened by next week. Just a suggestion.

Sorry, I just found out it is closed, like, forever. It was shut a couple years ago, having nothing to do with hurricane Irene. Never mind.

Quick update - as far as climbers are concerned the ADKs are back open for business. There's a lot of issues with trails we don't use anyway, and you are likely to have a slightly bumpier bushwhack to some of the cliffs, but overall access is open again. If anyone has updated info please let me know so I can add it to our Facebook page. :)

Have a great ice climbing season!

So... is ADK still open for business?

I"m comign from Canada and would be severely dissapointed to get there and find out the climbing spots are closed.

I'm looking at Poke-O-sunshine, seems like it's got the most lines going for it and would provide more than enough for a weekend trip.

Are there any other reccomendations in the park? My budies and i are thinking starting something trad-sport moving onto muli-pitch.

Anyone got reccomended guidebooks?

CoolCoolCoolSly

totally stoked to send it! Heard so many good things about the ADK

Most hiking trails are open and all areas of the Park are officially open/accessible.

However, this is Peregrine Falcon mating season so there's several closures for the next couple months, including many routes at Poke-o:

Usually by sometime July they reopen all the cliffs previously closed.

Check the facebook page linked in my signature, we update when such things happen! :)
