With all the talk of webbing vs static rope, I'm just curious if 9mm rope can get the job done? Most of the ropes for sale are 11mm presumably for durability purposes. But I'm wondering if people use other sizes and how long they last?

Yes 9mm will work just fine. Of course 10mm+ is better :)
