Hey all,

I'm heading out to Silver City, NM in a couple weeks and I'm hoping to do some bouldering. I hear the number of routes at City of Rocks is growing, but most are pretty low grades. I have a book on Organ Mountains, but I still don't know much about it. Does anyone have any thoughts or know of local crews to get in touch with? Silver City is relatively close to Las Cruces so Albuquerque area won't work. Thanks

Sounds like an opportunity to bag some first ascents at City of Rocks.

I lived in Las Cruces for graduate school--the Organ Mts are pretty great, but there is only sporadic and "local" development--I can't imagine that would be much fun for a shorter trip. It would take you all day to get to a boulder and then who knows. For an extra 45 minutes you will be at Hueco, and that is why the Organs are not developed. We just went to Hueco, as it took the same 45 minutes to navigate the crappy roads and winding paths of the Organs.
