Alabama Hills - Easy Top Rope

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are any super easy locations in the hills where we could set up a top rope before the climb. I am very new to the sport and it's my first time in Alabama Hills. I have been caving for years (short free climbs with some rope work) but climbing climbing more than 10 feet in the daylight is a new experience.

My partner has been climbing on and off for years but always has always set up a top rope before climbing. They are a lot better at climbing (caving too) than me, so some moderate routes that we can set top ropes up on ahead of time would be great too. Thanks in advance!

PS. Is anyone planning on going climbing there this weekend?

Climbed a few times there - the only formation I know of that is accessible for TRs without leading first is Oz and I think (haven't climbed it yet) its mostly 10's and up.

If your friend has any leading experience and you can provide a safe belay - Al Hills is perfect for new leaders. Lots of choices in the 5.6 range that are cruiser.

A few here that are more like a scramble than climb:

Have fun.

HiTekHobo,
I was in fact considering going there this weekend.
Funny, I saw this thread title in "South" and was like????
I had some plans fall through and am in need of partners. So I would be pleased to join you for some moderate climbs. I know of plenty there.
I have all the gear and can lead or otherwise set up Top Ropes.
If you are planning on going and wouldn't mind me joining you, let me know here or via a PM. And I will send you my contact info.
Don

Thanks for taking the time to reply. We are passing through the area and knowing it's a climbers playground, I can't imagine not climbing while there. We will take a look at Oz. I'll also talk to my partner about leading. Else, we will do what we normally do and just poke around until we find a good anchor. Thanks again!

PS. We will be heading up hwy 395 over the next couple of months. Are there any routes that we should check out along the way?
