The man was climbing with technical gear at a popular cliff when he fell 60 feet at about 1 p.m., about a half mile from a trailhead near U.S. Highway 6, Tilley said.
Several firefighters from Highlands, Golden, Foothills and Genesee fire departments responded, Tilley said. About a dozen climbers who were nearby when the man fell helped with the rescue, she added.

Can you include the MP link ?
I was on the route next to him and heard other reasons for the fall. I did not see him immediately after the fall though. He fell 80 feet if it was from the anchors.

Another guy there who was on the scene before me confirmed that no rope was attached to the fallen climber. Doesn't look like a lower vs rappel miscommunication.
