Local custom at the Wichita's in Oklahoma is to lift up your feet each time you drive across a cattle trap in the road on the way in.

Although not a tradition in the strictest sense, since it's only happened about three times, I'm a huge fan of drinking a beer or two at the cars after the descent. Then we can chill out, relive the favorite parts of the day, and we're still usually in visual range of the crags so we can paw over the guidebook, identify different routes, and plan our next 17 outings.

I liked the post on Mexican food and margaritas too. There is no better food when really hungry than Mexican. And margaritas are always good.

Mine are similar to nailzz. Iif we're not camping/staying o'nite, we have a beer at our cars at the end of the climbing day then usually meet up somewhere in Josh or Yucca Valley for dinner. Ed Chada's is always good. Nothing better than Mexican food and margaritas after a long day of climbing.

traditions I respect are:

* the Ponderosa prime rib Saturdays in the Needles
* the Round-Up BBQ in Groveland, near Yosemite
* the Last Stand in New Paltz (do NOT use the Yellow sauce)

On Yosemite big walls, the traditional thing is to take up some 16 oz. cans of Old English 800 malt liquor. The Curry Company sells it, right there, and it's got a bit of a punch to it.

I ask the Lord if it is my time to go. He hasn't responded yet so I get on the wall. I wonder how I would feel if he did respond one day?

pstr2b, if the Lord decides to answer your question, you will feel completely in the Grace and Glory of God.

Until then, He won't say anything to you.

I bring an extra beer for my mate and quench our thirst afterward.
Tomorrow its Kona Longboard Lager. Not sure what he's bringing usually a Mexican Amber.
Cheers,
Bill

We find a dead cow and eat as much of it as we can. After we are plenty stuffed we head for a local establishment for as much beer as we can fit on top of the dead cow.

These are some pretty low-key traditions.

When coming down from a wall, or out of the wilderness or a particularly long climb, it is my tradition to have 4 or 5 of my favorites in the climbing harum meet me at the car with some champaign and some stinky cheese. Then they conduct me to the nearest hot tub and gently rub and massage my aches and pains away. After that we retire to the back of the van so I may recount my heroic deeds while they all listen in rapt attention. To candlelight and incense they take turns helping me to forget the hardships I have endured and engage in playful competitions to out do one another for my favor. Then we fall asleep in a tangle.

Mexican food and margaritas pale by comparison, I assure you...
