Similar to touching the void (Joe Simpson) and the movie crevasse (Newser) – An American climber had written himself off for dead after he fell some 70 feet into a mountain crevasse in Nepal on Monday—and yet he managed to survive. John All tells the AP it took him six hours to crawl out of the hole using an ice axe and another three hours to reach his tent, a feat accomplished with a broken arm and ribs, dislocated shoulders, and internal bleeding. http://www.newser.com/...evasse-survives.html

Lucky, yes. But also amazingly persevering and strong, to do all of that with such injuries. I wish him full recovery.

Dats some gnar shit right there, man. Straight up gnar hardcore badassery, no doubt. I have a friend who was skiing down a glacier in the French Alps and a snowbrige he was on collapsed, dumping him straight into a crevasse. He stopped falling after landing upright on his skis, only to find there wasn't anything under the skis, and they had just gotten wedged in a narrow bit, a good 25/30 feet below the surface. He also realized he had dislocated his right shoulder. Luckily it was kinda a slab on the lower side so he was gunna slowly aid climb out on the two screws he had (sketch!) but just as he finished putting his second screw in but before removing the first he heard voices - some other folks had seen him fall in.
