The Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit (RMRU) is currently going through a major recruitment drive. We are an all-volunteer, non-profit team of rescue professionals and are always looking for new members. If someone gets lost or injured on Tahquitz/Suicide and cannot self rescue, there is a good chance that RMRU will be the ones that pull them off. See the links below for more information.

Note to applicants: if this is anything like its Bay Area equivalent BAMRU, the majority of call-outs are non-climbing related (eg. runner or geriatric patient lost, backup official response for major accident), many are at night, and the majority are called off before the search begins (person found, etc.).
The training and time commitment are significant: participants appear to like to doing it primarily for sense of community with their fellow volunteers, to be involved in something which they believe is important, and for mastery of the skills, which are used most exhaustively in inter-unit competitions rather than rescues.
It's also helpful to have tolerance for the varying motivations and levels of professionalism which volunteers have.

I rarely one-star posts, but I most-definitely have one-starred yours. The RMRU is an elite rescue unit who are the primary responders to all manner of life-threatening incidents in the mountains of Riverside County, California. These people are heroes. They unit is extremely active, and they are called out multiple times per week all year long in all weather conditions, sometimes in extremely dangerous conditions. These folks are the real deal, I assure you. If you can handle the training and commitment, it would be an honor to join this unit.
